WHY DO WE FIND IT SO HARD TO ACCEPT THAT OUR BODIES NEED REST

I come from a past of over achieving and every once in a while the little sneaky untamed part of me seems to rise to the occasion of not listening!

Last night on another day filled with school kids, various business tasks, late meetings, household cleaning and cooking, family visits and pet happiness I seemed to somehow loose track of time. I found myself laying in my bed at 2.25am this morning looking up at the ceiling.

Unlike most if I don’t get my 6-8 Hours of sleep a night, I wake up anxious, with nausea, worried and not relaxed and ready to take on the day at all.  It then takes me around 5 hours to defrost to a state of being able to concentrate long enough to get the simplest of tasks done. Making me very aware that I have wasted more time than I saved, by simply having to finish off those lasts tasks I could have completed before the crack of dawn and been SO MUCH MORE productive that day!

But as it goes, we adults always know better! Just this once… The oldest saying, that has followed us since the beginning of time!

AT THIS POINT YOU ARE PROBABLY ASKING WHY DO I WANT TO KNOW THIS

Well from one mom to another, one working woman to another, one wife to another, one daughter to another… By now you will understand.

It is to share how important balance is, get your rest so that you will be more rested and ready for the next day. I could get ten times tasks done when I am well rested, meet a hundred more deadlines with enough sleep!

Be ready to take on the world, be all the above in more at once! But the bottom line is you need SLEEP! Your brain needs to store those memories you created that today. Rewire your neurotransmitters to fire correctly tomorrow and most importantly your body needs to recover from all the multi-tasking of a modern day woman!

We are gracious, wonderful woman. But let’s not forget stubborn and perfectionists in our own ways!

GO GET THAT DAY! MAKE IT AMAZING!
